Anyone who knows me knows that I am absolutely DYING for a 2.55 Chanel bag. Ever since I did my Coco Chanel paper, I’ve dreamt endlessly about this bag. Usually I’m not a fan of big labels that try and make a statement (I call people like this brandies), but Chanel is so perfect and elegant and timeless and beautiful and well crafted that it’s on it’s own little cloud.
Chanel’s original creation of this bag was actually very different from the modern Karl Lagerfeld version that we were used to, although the quilting and overall structure remains the same. The quilting pattern was something that Chanel made popular during that time.
It’s a walking bag of history!
I’m going to give you more information about the context of the time period throughout the week. I could literally go on for hours about this topic (I actually wrote a 3,000 word paper on Chanel a few years ago!), but I’m going to stop here for tonight (I’m exhausted). I’ll continue with more history about Chanel and this wonderful bag tomorrow.
